These days, toothpastes come in different flavors and they are so sweet as well due to a product mix of sodium saccharin while making.

The other ingredients in toothpaste include abrasives, sodium fluoride, artificial sweeteners, diethanolamine, propylene glycol, etc.

All the aforementioned mixtures in the toothpaste are harmful for your kid’s health, as they inadvertently ingest toothpaste while brushing.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports, over 38% of kids aged 3-6 years ingest more toothpaste, consequently, putting their health at jeopardy.

You might think that your kid is just swallowing toothpaste and it’s okay, but they are indirectly ingesting a harmful chemical called fluoride.

If used as per direction, this chemical is good to an extent as it prevents bacteria development in your teeth and tooth decay. Plus, it lessens teeth sensitivity and reinforces your tooth enamel.

However, it’s a bad sign if your kid swallows more of this chemical. They could face medical issues like nausea, stomach pain, reduction of calcium and magnesium content in their body, etc.

While the above ones are some of the health issues kids face if they ingest too much toothpaste, that includes a chemical called fluoride, they can also possibly face dental ailments as well.

The most commonly heard concern is dental fluorosis, where your tooth enamel gets affected. The appearance of the whole teeth changes eventually, witnessed with streaks and thin lines.

Yet, there are no serious effects caused due to this health defect apart from some cosmetic affairs. And once your kid faces this condition, it won’t evanesce without proper treatment.

So, to prevent these troubles from happening, avoid toothpastes that contain fluoride content. You can buy non fluoridated toothpastes that can be easily available in any health store.
